Break the Chain
One Billion Rising

One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history. The campaign, which launched on Valentine’s Day 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be abused during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.

Every year, in collaboration with The Active Wellbeing Society we take to the streets to perform the Break The Chain dance. The event is open to the public and last year, was introduced by Jess Philips MP.

In 2026 we were invited by Birmingham City Council to perform the Break The Chain dance in New Street Station for International Women’s Day, opened by Cllr Nicky Brennan, Leader of the Birmingham Labour Group.
